you hear this fucking piano??? what a great-sounding track from a still-incredible record.

I always heard "now but I feel painless" as "now that I feel famous." huh.

I remember seeing mae play at the old masquerade in atlanta shortly after this came out. fuck. I really miss going to shows. we really just had the old world taken out from under us for no good reason, huh? but there's plenty of bad that needs to go, so if we're in the middle of an epochal shift, let's make it safer for everyone to gather and sing and sway.

not quite the perfect song for the moment, but a good song for when you need to summon up more fight.

A decade ago, this was very much in the neighborhood of what I aspired to make, but never got anywhere close. It might be the first song I've heard in a long time that made me go, "Oh, whoa. It's possible." I just couldn't get there.
